WELCOME TO THE KALAMAZOO APA WEBSITE!
Hello APA members of Kalamazoo and Barry Counties
phone: (269) 569-6581
Hello pool players! If you're checking this out for the first time, we hope you like what you see enough to give the league a try. It's a great way to make some friends, play some pool, hang out, and maybe win a trip to Las Vegas with your team. Nationwide, the APA has over a quarter million members, and holds the world's largest pool tournament every year in Las Vegas. Here in Kalamazoo, we sent over 30 people to Las Vegas this year. If your team is one of the winners, the APA will pay your airfare, hotel, entry into the national tournament, and some spending cash.
This is a handicapped league, so every team needs lower skilled or beginner players to fit under the handicap total. The large majority of our teams that break up are because they don't have the lower handicap players, the beginning unskilled players. If you have never picked up a cue stick and played pool in your life, I have teams every night of the week that will fight for you.
It's fairly simple. I can place you on a team, or you can build a team yourself out of friends/family/coworkers/ect. Up to 8 players on a roster, 5 shoot each weekly match. You and your team choose what bar you want to shoot out of. We keep track of points and wins for the session and the handicaps. There are 3 sessions, summer/fall/spring. Each session will have several teams that qualify for the Local Team Championship at the end of the league year where the teams will play to win the trips to Las Vegas.
The cost is $8 per week for each of the 5 players that play, total cost of $40 per team per week. If you don't play that week, don't pay anything. The national office charges a $25 membership fee that is due when you begin playing in the APA, and a $25 renewal in January every year.
Prizes include trips to vegas, clothing, patches, trophies, cash tournaments, and a lot more.
You'll have a good time getting to know the people in this league, and becoming a part of our pool community. Most of our members are guys and girls that just want to hang out, have a drink and play some pool.
I can place any new players on a team anytime, or round a couple friends up and start your own team when the next session starts in Kalamazoo, in September.
